Don’t let pain killers mess with your mind!

Some of the most popular prescription and over-the-counter pain killers can mess up not only your body, but also your mind.

AccordOTC drugsing to Jack Fincham PhD, RPh, a professor at the Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy, Naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn, etc.) is more likely than other OTC pain killers to cause depression. Naproxen is popular because it's less likely to cause stomach upset than other anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin or ibuprofen.  He says that naproxen affects the central nervous system, and that some people who take a daily dose for chronic conditions like arthritis have reported drowsiness, reduced concentration and/or depression.
