Insomnia

Can’t get enough sleep and you don’t want to take drugs? Try lavender! According to Karin Davis, PhD, director of medical nursing at Johns Hopkins Hospital, when a bottle of lavender oil was left open within three feet of the bedsides of hospitalized patients, they not only slept better, but also had lower overnight blood pressure.

To improve sleep, Davis recommends using lavender essential oil in an aromatherapy diffuser at bedtime, or put a few drops on a cotton ball, and tuck it into your pillowcase.  According to Peter Holmes, an authority on essential oils , Lavender “soothes, calms and harmonizes, relieving nervous tension and anxiety. It can help resolve emotional conflicts and crises, and can be helpful with letting go of past negative experiences.”
